Confucius’ comments regarding government

Confucius, when asked about government, is quoted as saying:

“In order to properly carry out its role, government must be looked upon by its people for leadership and be respected. It must not lose the faith of its people.”

Confucius (Kong Qiu) was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.
